Bantam Cochin thread.

That chick is super cute! I am still learning how to tell babies apart...there are so many color types! And they are all beautiful! lol

We just picked up a pair of black bantam cochin that I've already fallen in love with. I was excited because they guy told us she had already raised a batch of babies this spring (we are having an early spring in NC) but she hasn't laid an egg in the last week and a half since we got them. Hoping she'll settle in!

As a family, we've decided we need more bantam cochin. We've worked hard to narrow it down, and are now thinking of mottled, black, white, white frizzled, gold laced, silver laced, and lemon blue. Now all we have to do is find someone with our birds, and start building runs, fast!

I think so! Luckily we have a super big barn that's not being fully used, and five acres to scatter runs around. We're using the plans for a run we found somewhere on here, and the first one (for our elderly turkey) is doing great. It was a snap to build, and not expensive, so I say why not let the kids get a few chickens of their own? I can totally understand their chicken love!

I would love it if someone could post pictures of chicks and tell me what they grew into.... I have 11 bantam chicks right now. A few are supposed to be cochins..... but I am not even sure what COCHIN means!
