Bantam Cochin thread.

I can't free range unless I'm out with them. And even then its still unsafe as coopers hawks still will kill even with me 5ft away. I do however have a huge netted run that protects them while I'm not there. So at least they get out to play during the day.

I am looking to split an order of Bantam chicks this May, ordered from Murray McMurray Hatchery.
The minimum order is 15 chicks and I am looking to keep 5, all females.
I am looking at 5 varieties all chosen for their looks and good egg laying (for Bantams

)

RED PYLE GAME Bantam
RED FRIZZLE COCHIN BANTAM
GOLDEN LACED COCHIN Bantam
BUFF BRAHMA BANTAM
ARAUCANA/AMERICANA BANTAM

I would raise them till about 6 weeks until I could sex them. After that you would take the remaining 10.
Because I would be taking the "Pick of the Litter", hopefully one of each breed, I would be willing to give you a heck of deal on the remaining 10 chicks.

Please private message me if you are interested.
I live in Pasco County Florida.

Sorry to post this on two threads but if someone knows where better to post this please let me know!

do you have a feed store nearby? They usually will order whatever you want. Plus no shipping cost.

Mypetchicken.com has a minimum chuck order of 3-4 birds. Why don't you try them and avoid the extras ?

I do have a feed store nearby, I will have to look into that, thank you for the suggestion. Maybe they would I have just never seen Bantams there before.

I did look at My Pet Chicken but they only have one of the varieties I am interested in. Their minimum for Bantams is 6 which would be a lot better but I want to try for variety first! Thank you for the suggestion!

To me it don't seem like a fair deal.
You pick what you want and who ever gets the left overs...
Hmmmmmm and they split cost and don't get a even pick and stuck with boys as most hatchery bantam orders will be boys vrs girls.
Good luck with that.

Well I would be taking 5 and they would get 10. So I am sure they would get an assortment of roos and hens. I can't have roos in my city and you can't get Bantam chicks from these hatcheries sexed so there is my problem. I don't think it is an unfair deal as I would be taking on most of the cost for all the chickens that's why I said a heck of deal lol

hi everyone i was curious if someone could tell me something about this boy. i was wondering if he has vulture hocks or not and if his overall look is good for a mottled cochin. Also im not sure if it is normal for him to have this strange yellow on his hackle feathers or not.

he is about 10 weeks old in the first two pictures, and 8 weeks in the final. also what kind of mixture is the white frizzle cochin with the red head also has a few tail and wing feathers with silver tips. she is about 5 or 6 months old

she is camera shy i guess
