BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pics
Whee!!! 4 little fluffies in the brooder. This is the quietest batch of chicks I've ever hatched. They cheep plenty but their voices are really quiet and each one sound so sweet and inquisitive. "cheep?...cheep? cheep? cheep cheep cheep?...cheep?"

I got eggs shipped from Aarron Hunsinger and split them with a friend. All of the BBS eggs he sent hatched and just under half of the Reds did. Not bad for the middle of winter.

We also are going to get some Cochin's. To keep hawks away I plan on buying a 10 x 10 foot dog kennel from Tractor Supply. They have a tarp roof which will provide shade and keep hawks away. I plan on seeing the Shed Man next week for prices on hen houses. The website says they have some nice Amish coops with heated perch, screened windows to keep out hawks, treated floors that will be easy to keep clean, nesting boxes that can be opened from outside the coop and a walk in door for me and of course one for the hens that can be closed at night for extra security and to keep it warm. It also has the option of being wired and I will go with that because around here it gets cold and I may need a heater in the winter.
