BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one is another example, all dark skin, but her type is good. I think she has some silkie a few generations back in her background as her mother is also dark, but I've gotten many excellent chicks from the same hen, with a good rooster. This is the first dark-skinned offspring i have gotten, but I'll still test breed her with a good male.

Here we go! Got some pictures of my cochin pullet standing, for those who asked to see her posture without me or my mom holding her. She was very good about standing still long enough for me to take pictures.

I like her!
She is still maturing, so things can change, and it's not easy to judge from just pics. Her foot feathers look a little light, and her cushion may develop better as she grows.
I'm a bit confused about her color. Very light similar to self-blue, but I don't think she is self-blue. Also doesn't really look BBS blue. Almost looks like an even splash, with no splashes, if that makes sense. Over multiple generations, the splashes get more sparse and the blue fades further. But usually turns more white than she is. Does she have any single feathers that are darker than the rest?

WVduckchick do you have nice Cochins? I believe these are some of the hardest breeds to find hatching eggs of. None of the good breeders want to sell eggs, which is understandable.

I assume you mean nice quality/type, not nice personality? Lol

I think mine are mostly decent quality, but I have a couple girls that need to be replaced, and i need to get my colors sorted better. I got some pretty nice pullets this year as offspring, and kept another nice cockerel, so when egg production picks back up (after the broody bug is done), and i get some rearranging done, I think I'll have some decent eggs.

I will!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my cochin bantams! I have 55 and will have about 150 by summer. I will be breeding these and silkies, but the cochin is my #1 fav!

I have almost every color and hope to have them all when Im done putting my breeding flocks togather. Im revamping my barn to house them and also getting some chicken breeding condo coops for when breeding for certin colors. I cant wait till spring!

UGH! You are so lucky! I wanted to buy some bantam Cochins but couldn't find ANY!!! :he
