BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi I have a question I hope you or some else can help me with. I just bought a standard partridge Cochin who is 12 weeks. She's is missing feathers at the base of her tail. The seller told me it takes a long time for these feathers to grow. Have you experienced this. Or did she just sell me a bird with paristes of some kind. She does have pin feathers.

Hmmmm.....mine have molted out their chick feathers and are growing in their "big girl feathers " but they don't have any bare patches? Hopefully someone can add info!

How old are your girls now. I just hope she doesn't have any kind of parasite. A couple of weeks ago I introduce a new chicken to my flock,I did my monthly check and they all had mites so I'm making sure I quarantine her for at least two weeks. Plus I'm in Canada and none of the vets or feed stores sell anything for mites or live.

Mine are 13 weeks now...so a little over 3 months old. Good idea to quarantine new additions unil you know there are no health issues! If you post on emergency/ illness thread people will probably have some good suggestions for natural remedies for parasites or lice since they don't sell those products where you live

Great thanks. I found one that seems to work using garlic. I don't know how people can sell an animal that's sick or full of pest. Or that don't Care.
I know! So sorry but unfortunately there are people out there who will! Or maybe they don't know enough about chicken health to know there was an issue? And did think it was slow feather growth? I've only had big bare patches on mine during a hard molt, but your seems a little young for that?

My oegb hen has a bare pacth on her back just above the tail but it is because I had a rooster who kept picking at her she and the rest of my oegbs are in a different pen now but have since got rid of the rooster.
