Hello everyone... for those that are following I just wanted to give you an update! I had 5 babies that didnt hatch. I did crack them open and only one pipped its aircell. All 5 had their intestines on the outside...
Although Im glad they werent able to hatch then... One baby pipped a huge hole in its shell and stayed that way for 36 hours. I was sure nothing else was hatching, and was ready to shut the hatcher down so I heated up a towel and got a warm paper towel to see if I could help this baby. Well sure enough it also had its intestines on the outside. I tried the whole "gently push them back in" but too much of them were out... so we culled.
On the up... we have 24 little fuzzy butts running around!!!
I had 100% of fertile eggs go into lockdown and an 80% hatch... Im happy with that... Wish it could have been the 100 I had last time but hey... it obviously happened for a reason.. all healthy babies are here with us!!! Here are the numbers!!
8 Speckled Sussex (started with 10)
4 Barred Rock (started with 5)
3 Welsummers (started with 5)
3 pure Mahagonys (started with 4)
4 Delaware/Del Mixes (all 4!!!)

Yes yes yes, I know pictures... Ill take some this afternoon when Hunter goes down for his nap!
