Barley and wheat

One of my farming friends has some clean barley and wheat she is giving me. I only buy my chicken feed but would like to mix the barley and wheat into it to stretch it. What ratio would be safe to add barley and wheat to laying ration feed? Thanks

I Wouldn't mix it in. Just keep it separate and use it as a scratch grain. Limit it to 10% or less. It is relatively low in protein so you will be better to offer a 20%+ protein layer or all flock feed.

You might also want to try your hand at sprouting it. Especially if your chickens dont get out much, it makes great fodder.
