Barn Progress ** Updates & Photos, Follow Along**

Wanted to pop in and add a new photo. Here's the progress as of this afternoon before DH went to work.

The frame's half complete. It's stable enough to stand on it's own. I raked up even more junk... included 6 different broken bottles right in front of the barn doors. I think these people buried their trash, instead of having it hauled away.

DH will be working 7 days a week for a few weeks now, so I'm not sure when we'll get anymore progress pictures on here. Once he finishes the framing, I can do the wire myself. We still need to clean out the inside, wire the windows and get the pop door up.

Thanks

I really hope they like it. It's nice and roomy in there. Now, I have to get cracking on the inside, since I need that first. LOL!

Popping in with another update.

I cannot believe how fast these buff orp chicks are growing! Yesterday, they were leaping and flapping their wings. They got so high, I thought I'd have chicks running around my living room. Plus, with 32 chicks in this living room, even if I change their litter every day, it's smelling a bit funky.
So, DH decided it's time to out them. We finished the inside of the barn. Well, about 90%. We need to finish the built in feeder and a ramp for the roosts, since they're a little tall.
Here's some pictures

Nesting boxes complete. There's 12. DH converted an old tv cabinet that was left here on the deck. We made two large ones, so in the event we have a broody, we can move her in there for some privacy and room.

The adult roosts. They're 2x4s, 4.5 ft long and 18'' apart. They're about 4.5 ft off the ground, I'd guess. I'm 5'8" and they come up to my armpits

. I'm going to have DH build a ramp up to them, so the flock won't have to try so hard to get up there.

Here's the 'baby roosts' and heatlamp. It's at about 90, ground level, so I think they should be warm enough tonight. I know I'll be checking

The chicks first look at the new digs... It's like 'Where's Waldo?' with the EEs in there.

Ooooooohhhhhh, so THIS is a roost? I like.

And now that they're all together again, I'm fairly certain I have 1 rooster. He's large, has a comb twice the size of the others and likes to 'fly attack' everyone else. I guess I should band him, so I know who he is later!

What do you think? Any suggestions?

It looks great. I'm so jealous. Our property didn't come with any outbuildings besides the barn. Obviously that's for the cattle so I have to do my own stuff for chikens. Someday I'd like to put up a pole shed for all the chickens with electric and running water, that's not for a while though.

Thanks Sara

I was just out there hanging out with the chicks and they are hilarious! Chasing each other around, flapping their wings like they're going to take off, scratching around in the shavings... I left the barn door open to let some sunlight in and they were fighting over the patch of sun, so they could sun themselves.

Man, I love chicken tv already.
