Oh, now that's just baloney.

You posted on byc looking for input. You just didn't like the input you got.

Please, learn more about the breed before you set yourself up as a breeder. You can start by joining the Barnevelder yahoogroup. But I warn you -- they aren't yes-men either. They'll give you honest opinions, so if you don't want honesty then don't bother.

Stuff it your just looking for a fight and Im already on the yahoo group and like you its been noooooooooo help Im sorry that your llife is so empty that this is what makes you feel importart. Who made you an expert on barnevelders anyway?

Any suggestions on where to get these breeder birds from? Show me that they are as good or are better than the birds I already have. Some of the eggs I have pictured are from a guy who claims that his birds are from the netherlands his birds look very differrent than mine but the eggs dont look any darker. Also you make it sound like I did somthing stupid buying my birds from darkeggs.com tell me how I would of known where they get there birds from?

It's hard to know where to get good stock from since anyone can say anything about where they got their stock from. Joining forums that are aimed towards the breeds you like are a good place to start if you haven't done that already. Asking lots of questions about where they got their stock whether it's an individual or a hatchery.

Yeah, I tried some of those forums.
they do not want "newbies" or anybody who asks questions.. I found them to be sort of snobby.

Exactly Your not the 1st or even the 5th person that has said that.

I'd like to thank those of you who've posted honest, to the point, information regarding Barnies. I was considering getting a few of them at some point, and I've learned so much in this thread about what the breed standard is and what their egg color should be. So thanks to Katy, Amazondoc, and the others who've shared their knowledge.

what did you get a call from the bully hotline you guys are so transparent show me what you have learned.

You really need to get a grip. Everyone has been nice and honest with their posts in this thread. Maybe a mod needs to shut this one down due to your rude behavior. There's a lot of good people who have posted their opinions and EXPERIENCE in this thread...so don't instigate an argument with them because you can't accept what they have to say.

I think a lot depends on how you go into a forum. I got a lot of help on the forums I belong to over the years.....even when I was a newbie on them. If a person gets upset with the feedback they get to their questions that can put a lot of people off. After a while the "old timers" don't bother answering questions because they're tired of the responses they get to their answers.

Thank you Shelley!

Now, some Barnevelder info I found in a book from the Netherlands:

" The breed is found in black, white, double laced and blue double laced. The double laced variety is recognized in most countries. In Gernamy, apart from these colors, there is also blue and dark brown."

"The double laced variety turns the Barnevelder into something special. A white or a black Barnevelder is less outstanding. The white Barnevelder closely resembles the white New Hampshire." ( there must be some confusion in the translation, I believe they mean the New Hampshire White, a distinct breed from the red) "Double Lacing is at its most beautiful when the ground color is a warm golden brown, in which a black lacing spectactularly flashes a green luster."

I have also seen pics of silver double laced Barnevelders, where the brown is replaced with white.

I honestly don't think I ever posted a question on any of the forums or asked a question of any breeder that I didn't get an answer to. I don't know what else to tell you.
