That last variety on the Kippen Encyclopedia site is an autosexing Barnevelder. Its name translates into something like Cuckoo-Partridge, so it has the barring gene and the black of the normal partridge male is replaced with barring. The hen has a salmon breast The male has two copies of the barring gene and the hen only one and this variety can be sexed at hatching.

I plugged it into Google translator and this is how it translated, since I don't speak Dutch I can only muddle through

The silver blue shown there is showing the same autosomal red that I have happening in my silver blues. It was interesting to see that. While the silver double laced shown were nice and clean silver and black.

Another interesting thing form the Dutch site, is it says the silver double laced is only recognized in bantam

There are also some nice closeup shots of neck, back, saddle and breast feathers, worth a look if you haven't looked at it yet.

Have another interesting link to some pics of Barnevelders of all colors. There's some splash, blue/silver, crele? and red. I think the blue/silver hen is very cool looking!

so took some pictures of my roo (Xander) and one of the pullets. I think she's maybe 4 months old?

I wish I knew what I was looking for... I think they are pretty but I am a complete novice here.

Your Roo looks like he has some interesting lacing. What are his blood lines, do you know?
I'm wondering about the width of his back, my roo looks about the same. Is this the accepted back or should there be more of a U swoop?
Isn't it so cool that there are now many of us raising BV's?

And here is Gumball, my BarneXBarred Rock, I was worried about him since his dad was REALLY mean, he also started getting mean, but is now really mellow, not sure what happened. I did tell him he was going to the pot if he did not start acting nice LOL! He is also good out keeping the younger boys in line.

Your rooster looks nice. I like his full tail (and very little tail fluff). Looks like he'll fill in nice and stocky through the chest too. Looks like you have some nice tail angles on the girls as well.

Keep roos from dark eggs, line breed them to their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and daughters etc.

Btw, two quick observations from just looking at the pics. Did anybody besides me notice the decidedly short backs on the birds and the distinct "Check Mark" type? Secondly, did y'all notice the egg color of those eggs in the one pic? Sure don't look like the "dark brown" that is so often touted that the overseas birds supposedly have.

The tail sets and body types are more extreme aren't they. Very short backs and high tail sets. Just like you said...kind of like a "check mark".
