Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Their stock may have originally come from Trisha, but I've hatched a lot of birds from Trisha and none have ever come out looking like that. The blue I pictured earlier was from Trisha's flock. The blues definitely have issues that still need work, but she is doing a fantastic job with them. That bird is the result of the breeding decisions those people made that sold it to you.

I certainly understand. I didn't get what I paid for with this bird in any way. She isn't even laying much at all.

She is still pretty though, and exceptionally mellow, so she fits right in with the ornamental portion of my flock. Except she's three times as big because the other ornamentals are all bantams! Lol! Good things she doesn't bully them at all.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of different reasons why hens may not be laying well, especially this time of year. Overall, Barnevelders are very good layers.

Hello! I have two almost 7 week old Barnevelders. (The first pic is at 6 weeks.) I'd love confirmation on their sexes. I HOPE they're both girls, but one of each would've fine. The blue one had a darker chest as a chick. They both feathered in at the same rate and have longer wing feathers. What's confusing me is the lighter one's comb!! It's much pinker than the blue's. Thanks in advance!

This breed is amazing. I'm having a hard time finding anything wrong with it! I have two unrelated (to the chicks) black Barnies which I think are just beautiful. I'm hoping to be able to breed them to these littles when the time comes. Here's my (about 20 weeks in this pic) girl. Comments/critiques appreciated!

If I were take a guess would say you have a boy and a girl. The splash chick looks like a male to me. Your older girls are very nice. I like them a lot. If you do end up with a splash rooster and breed him to your standard hens you will get all blue offspring. So far it looks like he has some decent lacing coming out and that can be hard to see on a splash.

I agree with you about Barnies...I have a hard time finding anything to complain about with this breed!

The mystery of my eggless Barnie has been solved! One of my hens must have been eating the brown eggs. Only the brown ones though which I think is really odd since I've never missed my green blue or white eggs.

I separated out the troublemaker and all of a sudden I am getting big milk-chocolate eggs every day! Yaaaay!

:) maybe put a brown fake egg in the nest box?

Most everyone is molting, but I got a few pictures of some of my pullets and hens.
Nice pullet, but a little too red in the neck.

Good pullet.

Another promising one.

Young pullet. Don't like her head and she's still in juvenile pattern. But, I like her type.

It's a win-win either way. I have an older boy and girl, both black. So, if the littles are both girls, I get a trio. If they're boy and girl, I get to make another little coop, lol!
@tls_ranch Stunning birds!
