I know you sent me just the Barnies but it was this line in your previous post that confused me...
"You'll know for sure when they feather out because Barnevelder lacing is easy to mess up if not "pure". If the genes aren't right you get messy lacing or way too much red in the males and with the Johan/vB's you shouldn't have any issues with poor lacing."

I thought you were thinking that the last #8 chick could be a "olive egger" cross from some other eggs you hatched and not a Barnevelder from me. If the #8 chick is a olive egger cross, you should know when it feathers out

I just called the Post Office and was told that the post man has my box of Johan Barnie eggs on his route today. I hope my eggs are ok

they were shipped on the 18th. I got my bator going and am sooooo excited!!!

how long to let them rest before putting them in?

Just woke up to four babies!

Lots more pips and one with a lil window he made to look out of. The first four are lively and hoppin and peepin, so stinkin cute! Both KC eggs have good pips, at least one of the Cornevelders is moving (maybe both, they're touching each other so it's hard to tell) and besides the guy with the window, at least 5 other pips in the rest.

Trisha: Thank you for the lucky vibes! And I'll write up how I built my bator and PM you with it, sometime today, if I can get away from watching "Hatch TV" LOL.

The first to hatch haven't completely fluffed up yet, but I see dark heads and light breasts. I'm actually hoping for lots of roos in this bunch. The more the better as far as having a good choice for breeding next year.

Hi Steve,
That's about what I run my humidity at. Not much more than 35% and then 60-70% during lockdown. With the higher humiditys I seem to get chicks that are dead in the shell (drowned I assume) and a sometimes sticky chicks.


Jen, let them rest at least a day I've also heard that putting them in the bator and not turning them for the first day or two can help with detached aircells.
