Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

A white Barnvelder?? Wow! Thanks for that report from Germany. I noticed the tails on the Roosters seemed to be higher that what I have seen on ours here in America! Just beautiful birds. The blues were a lot like the ones you'll are developing here. Way to go. What are the speckled ones called or is that silver? Aya

Yeah, our standard 'calls for' a medium and concave back. In chicken terms "medium" is rather short as most breeds ask for a long back. And to get a good concave back you need to stay away from flat shoulders and shallow bodies. Our tails are called to be a bit high, too. Up to 50 degrees (in order to get a long well-placed neck and a smooth sweep of the topline) and that is higher than one just casually thinks. I go around and measure everybody's pics and such

and have sorta been drawn to a really good, what I call, "Swoop" and a fairly big, clean but well-defined high head.
The form the article came in on my computer wouldn't translate so I had to muddle thru with breaking down the root with a sloppy understanding of German ..... Pictures were lovely!!

She's about 8.5 months old.

Btw, I forgot to mention, the picture of the cock bird to the right is when he was about the same age as the cockerel on the left. It was taken after the show in March on St. Patty's Day. I couldn't get a picture of him at the show on Saturday because he was too big to fit in the frame as the aisles were too close together. He's a real tank now though.
Hi all, am still learning about Barnies, but can say that from the first time i saw Royce's Barnies several years ago at a show and this last one,,,,He has done allot of work and the consistancy shows. Think all his birds did extremely well this show.....His Roo breast lacing is more apparent too. Congratulations, eliz

Beautiful birds, Trisha, thanks for the link. I think the ones I see from this group are just as pretty.
I guess we are on the cutting edge of BV in America, aren't we?
