Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

I am not sure I would give any eggs to the Barnies if they went broody. So many of my girls already sit for me and hatch and raise the babies wonderfully so I am not sure I would take the chance on a broody Barnie.
I tried with a Jersey Giant but she, too, would break eggs getting in and out of the nest or trying to turn them under her big body. Some chicks finally hatched from her but she killed them herself so I never let the JGs have any more eggs.
I trust all my feather legs to be good broody girls. I have Cochins, Brahmas and Silkies and they are broody several times during the year. My Cochins have hatched Barnies for me and raised them up very successfully.
My Barnie girls like to hang out and do their nails and gossip about the free range flock that walks past their pen.

I have a 7 week old cockerel from PeaceOfThyme hatching eggs. He's the only one that hatched out of the 6 eggs I had in the incubator (I had power outage issues in that hatch). Anyway, he's very handsome and will need a home. I will ship him to any one of you who want him if you pay shipping. Bird free and I have the box to ship him in as well. He will be old enough to ship next week.
Let me know if you are interested, want pics etc.

Or, anyone want to sell me a few pullets?

He's just 7 weeks now. They always run from the camera and crowd up, hard to get good pics.
I will try to get some when they are outside.

He is a sweet boy. I've been talking to Christina about more eggs. I see pullets in my future!

That is one nice looking little boy. Just 7 weeks old and already getting some nice lacing in. And look at that leg color! What are you feeding him?

Seeing this little fella just makes me all the more determined to get some eggs from Christina. God willing, things look at work like they may be taking a turn for the better soon and then I can maybe do so. Christina not only has great birds from what I can see but she's an absolutely terrific person to talk with.

God Bless,

I know nothing about Barnevelders. Matt John told me the cocks have a high tendency to fall over dead without any warning. He said he bought several roosters and a couple hens one time. He said a couple of the cocks died eventually. He sold the rest of them. Later the person who owned them asked if he knew where he could get a rooster because all the roosters had died. Have any of you experienced that?
