Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Its pretty red. My 2 others barnies are more gold. The first Pic of just her back was taken in the kitchen under flourescent light and they were all shot with my cell phone. The pic of her back is greatly misleading. If anything i was thinking her tail feathers were not quite long enough. But i am no pro.

Her tail could be a little more "full" with more spread or fan like.. But just breed her to a roo with a nice full tail. Other than that, she seems to be better than your average quality hen:) congrats!

Heck she is purty! nice lacing. I must be a poor photographer because my birds look like in life that but they never do in my pictures. I am glad you got her. If you want more like her I will have chicks and eggs for sale this spring.

I sold some eggs and chicks last year that were Johan x Gabbard and Johan x Ledford (vB), and Gabbards being a mix of Ledford and Kelly Cratty stock. The most of my stock was all Johan and they do have lacing like that and full tails.

If you got her around Eugene or Corvallis, there is a very good chance she is from my birds, especially if the person told you that.

Since the sun was out I tried to get some good shots of my cornevelder project birds, but they weren't cooperating. None wanted to hold still and I think my son messed with the camera's settings. I'm going to cross my blue roo on these girls later on.

Here's a pic of my best "cornevelder" hen from 2010. Lots of lacing though it could be cleaner. I love the way she carries her tail, but I'd like to see more cushion back there. She lays one of the darkest eggs in my flock.

Here's a pic ( a bit blurry) of one of my best pullets from 2011. She's really good sized, lays a nice dark egg and has great lacing. I didn't get a good shot of my other pullet that's even nicer.

Oh, I know you guys in Oregon are getting dumped on, hope everyone is ok. We also had a bunch of rain the last few days just not as much as Oregon. The weather just gave us a break this morning and the sun came out. The girls are now just soaking it up:)

Flood warning for second half of the week again.
Thanks for the input on the hen.
Andy, I have admired pictures of your birds before. I may have to get more in the future. Do you happen to have pics of eggs from your birds?
Trish, love the blue.
Now, a question that came to me. I know Barnie egg color is lacking, so who's barnies have the best eggs? Is this the reason for Trish's Cornevelder project? If I remember correctly, crossing the 2 actually darkened the egg color?
