Ok... three more Barnvelders, the first two pic I think is a pullet, second pic cockerel? he bit me good! That’s his head on the left in the third pic, the runt in the third pic wasn’t catchable at all. They are psycho chickens. Sounded like I was murdering them, and #3 wasn’t even letting me point my phone at (hopefully) her! I think they are like 5-6 weeks old now.

I'm thinking pullets--Robin was jet black and had none of the stripeys until much later. The psycho thing is crazy, though...my daughter has had a miserable weekend (fiance break-up and learned her bio mom put her dog down in October! AYKM?!?) and Robin has been on her like glue, making sad little noises whenever she's been crying.

Oh, Michelle says to tell you that Robin loves to be held but hates to be picked up (9Volt's like that, too), but he's obnoxious about it and screams the entire time, "Evasive maneuvers! Evasive maneuvers! Serpentine!" ROFL So I guess maybe it's a thing? :gig

Sorry to hear your Daughter is having such a rough time lately... seems like life tends to kick harder when we’re down, yes? At least she has some feathered friends and you to help her through... the female actually let me hold her for a bit after this... so maybe I’m making progress. I’m thinking they will do well freeranging

The first is a pullet, than a rooster. Last picture shows a rooster on the left and pullet on the right. My barnevelder roosters have always been respectful and gentle boys so hopefully yours are too.

Yup first chick is female and the last two are male.

You have a LOT of cockerels in this group.

Where did you get your chicks from?
