barred/cuckoo araucana? PIC ADDED PG 6

One of the many things I love about araucanas -- AOV!

We found that when we bred tufted tailed to smooth faced rumpless together we got a higher % of tufted rumpless chicks.
I have been wanting to get back into araucanas again and I was thinking about having 3 lines. One line for producing tufted rumpless, and then one line for breeding smooth faced rumpless and the other for tailed tufted. I would love to eventually have pure breeding tufted tailed birds, they look awesome.

On a side note, in my 1898 APA standard it mentions rumpless fowl and basically the standard is for them to be rumpless with either a single or a rose comb.

Sorry to be off topic again, lol. I remember seeing LF red araucanas, they were very pretty. Since I know that there are many BBR/light brown araucanas out there I could get some hens and get a barred roo then cross them and make crele araucanas. I would have huge crele birds with no tails and small crele birds with long tails (phoenix).
Dang, I really need to stop coming to BYC, now I have some other breeding projects in mind.

If it lays dark brown eggs its probably Cuckoo maran.

I'll buy it from you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read somewhere on the Ameraucana website where it talks about the recognized colors, and what is an easter egger, it does say that if it breeds true 50% of the time it's an Ameraucana.

So my Black EE/Ameraucana's who have slate legs, not green, and are breeding hatched chicks who replicate themselves must be Black Ameraucana's even though they lay pink and green eggs?

No, there are other standards that must be met, not just breeding true 50% of the time.

I'm pretty sure the standard calls for blue eggs. Let's not get carried away now.
