Barred Rock chick - roo or pullet?

They are.  We have two, and one hatched out in our last batch of babies.  They're good sturdy chickens too.  I call ours Salt and Pepper.  

They sure are!

Once and a while they will go broody and are dedicated moms. Not to mention they lay like champs and are big birds that are great foragers.

I am going to say I think it is a roo because it looks just like mine did last year and you described the same situation that I had....they looked different and one was lighter than the other. Please let us know how it all turns out.
