Barred Rock Chicken- rooster or Hen?

Nope, no other roosters...just two chickens and the one roo : )

The thing that stands out most to me are the neck feathers... they look more poofy than a hens..and also his feet have no black on them. I would need to see the sickle feathers of a rooster and a hen side by side to see what the difference is.

Dont worry about HIS lack of crowing...just when you give up & think you're safe with a quiet rooster, he'll belt one (or 10) out. Mine was about 7 months before he crowed!

ugh! I started trying to find a good home for him today after the responses to this post started rolling in. If we were out in the country I'd totally keep him but our neighbors are just too close to our backyard for a crowing rooster : (

I wish you weren't in Fl. I'd take him in a second! I just lost my favorite roo to a hawk this morning, my other roo is just not as sweet and attentive to the girls as "hoss" was.
