Bought two chicks as Barred Rock pullets; however now that they are growing up, am concerned they are probably both cockerels. We live in town and need to avoid having any crowing roosters.

Currently ~8 weeks old (last 2 pictures). They both seem to have a lot of white in their feathering for Barred Rock pullets (5-6 weeks in the first 2 pictures). The one with largest comb and wattles had two separate, well defined white spots on head as a chick (~2 weeks old in picture under the heat lamp) while the one with the smaller, less red comb had a single less well defined spot. I didn’t know to look at leg wash at all when they were little.

They are from Dunlap hatchery in Caldwell, ID via way of the local feed store. None of the other 4 chicks are Barred Rocks nor showing signs that I am picking up on of being cockerels.

Should I be preparing for them both to start crowing?
Thanks for your expertise and help!

Looks like two cockerels :'( it's easier to tell when you have one of each, but barred rocks can generally be sexed fairly young!

The males will have more white in the barring, as well as yellow legs (females have dark or black legs) and generally the males will have a more defined head spot! Females usually don't have one (or it'll be faded or misshapen) sorry you ended up with two cockerels :'(

Thank you for your reply and confirming my suspicions.

They are both definitely cockerels.

Can anyone tell me what my Barred Cochin are? I know the one with the bright red is most likely a cockerel but this is my first time with chickens and I am learning. First 4 pics are little foot We bought it with a hurt foot my 7 year old son fell in love with him/her and had buy it. I am really hoping not a cockerel he will have to go to my brothers! The 5th, 6th and 7th pic I believe is a cockerel? Last 4 pics I believe a pullet but not sure! Any help would be appreciated.
