Barred Rock HEN (I hope)

the comb appears to be a pea comb from the picture and the barring looks different which leads me to believe its a BR mix, And sex wise i would say roo because of the tail feathers..

I have 16 that look just like her. Pic to the left is a 12 wk old roo. You have a hen. Our's are 16wks today some hens are redder than others and you can't mistake them for roos

I have three Barred Rock Hens, are one of them looked very much like yours, at about 14 to 16 weeks. She is a gorgeous girl, despite her slightly lighter coloring and statuesque build, and a good layer!

This is Harriette now. She is my favorite Hen!

I agree. The comb, barring, and body type don't look correct for a pure br. I think you have a mix there but I think it's a pullet.

Chuckzoo, I got Harriette at a Soldan's feed store, but they may have ordered their chicks from Ideal. I really don't know. Harriette had me worried for awhile, before she proved herself a hen by laying eggs. She always looked Roosterish to me, with a more upright stance, heavier build and fierce expression. Her two BR sisters are much more petite and have closer spaced bars. She is definitely a girl though, and a delightful girl at that.
