Barred Rock Thread

I love my barred rocks!!! My barred rock roo is a lazy boy. He doesn't wake up til around 8 or 9 in the morning to start crowing.

We have 1 Barred Rock, that was given to my son. She is about 6m/o now and has 6 small brown eggs (I'm saving them for when our son comes home from Ft.Jackson) She is a "House chick" and a wonderful addition to our family.

I have a Barred Rock. She is around 5-8 weeks, and very sweet and sociable. We actually found Speckles walking down a busy road, so instead of discovering the answer to the question "why did the chicken cross the road" I scooped her up and am a proud barred rock keeper.

I just got some this spring, they were suppose to be girls. One is a roo though.

So I have a question for all of you that have roos, are they a little nicer then some other breeds, or just as aggressive?

He is big, and he hasn't went after me yet! But it's like he tries to size me up, like he is not too sure of me! lol He watches every move I make when I go into the coop, well all my roos do, but he just has this look like I am not sure yet if I like her or not.

I have 7 chickens.

2 are BR's because I just had to have them cause they are so beautiful.
HOWEVER, my bR's are the biggest bullies in the bunch. They are just awful, awful little demons, to me and everything else- the hens, the dog, the cats.....

I was so excited and they turned out to be the worst tempered of any of them.

Oh well, I still love them and laugh when they go flogging and running down my poor cats.....
