I was in there cleaning out the coop and found these:


On the backs of two of my three barred rock pullets!

I don't get it, what is on they're backs?

Are you sure they are pullets? they may be roos those look like saddle feathers but I'm new to this so I could be wrong.

I really am thinking those are roosters.

Post some pics of your 3 "pullets" heads. Those look like saddle feathers to me.

surprising they haven't started crowing yet!!!!
the bottom pic has very Roo coloring too!!!!

Awww maaaannnnn!! I only have tree and two are roos?! No wonder they haven't started laying. Here are two pics showing the heads of those two but neither are very clear:

I will have to see if I can get a pic off all tree together tomorrow. The other pullet is darker and way smaller - and here I was thinking that one was just a runt!

Don't feel bad. My very first time incubating I set some local BR eggs and ended up with 4 roos and 2 hens.

My very first chicken EVER turned out to be a Barred Rock rooster from the feed store!!!!! huge bummer

because I'm not allowed to keep roosters.
