Bay Area BYCers!

They are beautiful! I always get chicken fever when I see what beautiful birds you all have!

So, I have a funny story to share.... In April we put together a little flock of chicks. Nine to be exact - 2 BO's, 2 BA's and 5 Silkies. The BO's and the BA's were sexed so I felt like those were safe and I wouldn't have to worry about any little roos. And of course the silkies couldn't be sexed so I anticipated a couple of roos out of the 5. Well, several months later we stated hearing strange sounds coming from the coop! Three distinct voices creating a morning wake up sound that could cause a persone to have a nervous twitch! Gracious neighbors I am blessed with so they patiently waited for me to find homes for one of my BA's that was supposed to be a girl! And two of the silkies, of course one of my favorites! Now I like the cock a doodle doo, but I live in a no crow zone, so I was under a little stress! Anyway, I was getting desperate to rehome them for noise purposes and because I was going on vacation. I asked for a miracle!

And a miracle I received! I was able to rehome my three men to good homes! YEAH! SUCCESS! So, we get home from vacation, which turned out to be a sad event as we unexpectedly lost my dad, tired after a 16 hour drive and a very emotional week. Looking forward to sleeping in at least a little bit......lying in bed not a sound could be heard, but wait! What is this? Did you just hear what I heard? Oh no! A late bloomer! Rushing to the coop, I sat and waited! Which one could it be?

They were teasing me as not another sound was made! It took me all last week to figure out it was my timid little white Silkie Opal! Who I now call Mr. White for lack of a better name. Now my rehoming efforts continue! OIY! Hopefully noone else is in stealth mode!!!

Eating watermelon makes my doo a little messy!

And you know I have to ask......Anyone interested in a sweet little white silkie roo?

To bad I'm in the Valley or I'd take him. I'm getting rid of a roo and hen probably next week and I'm going to need a new roo. My pullet hates this one and won't lay with him around. He loses.

Sorry about your dad.

I've got a huge black mottled java roo for you, but warning he is VERY protective of his hens. Or I've also got a HUGE buff Orpington Roo from BuffBeauty, gorgeous. Both are going to freezer camp if someone doesn't take them first

Thank you! It's been a rough couple of weeks. I was daddy's girl no doubt about it!!

And If you'd still like him, I don't mind driving to Modesto if it means he would have a happy home!!! My Niece lives out there and it would allow me to visit!!!

Just let me know!

I just need a new Silkie roo. This one is nice, but too stupid for me to deal with. He's fine with the hen, but bullies my pullet, so the pair is going to auction probably. Oh may have to keep them an extra week. Prices have been way to low lately. Last week I was shocked at how low everything went. First of the month the prices are usually better. I go to feed him and he acts like I'm looking to make soup. LOL

OH and those low prices were kind of nice last week. Got a Black Sumatra trio

This week too broke to go and knew I wouldn't make anything, so I stayed away.

Just let me know!

I understand. I found my dad 10 years ago and lost him last year. Lost a lot last year.

If you're coming this way for other reasons, then by all means toss him in the car. LOL Just let me know if you decide you are coming out for yourself. I'm almost always here, but going to a Ports game saturday for a fundraiser with my grand daughter's cheer squad.

Ports game sounds like fun! It is a nice stadium - been there a few times. Do you know what time you'll be heading for the game? I can probably swing by before lunch if that works for you.

Still waiting for my daughter to let me know. Miss last minute! My car gives me some issues sometimes. Trying to practically rebuild itself. LOL

I would think though that we'll be leaving around noon. The game starts at 3, but all the girls have to be early, plus we tail gate there, so we go pretty early for that too.I like to wonder off and watch the boats. Just looking forward to those quesadillas! We all love the food areas there. And yeah I love the stadium. It's really nice there.

Sounds like a great day! And I know all about car issues! Well, why don't we play it by ear. If it works out and you'll have time in the morning I'll swing by. If sunday would be better we can do that too. And of course if this weekend doesn't work out my boyfriend drives to Modesto every day for work - He is in the National Guard. I'll enlist his services!! I'd really love to give you this roo because I so want him to have a good home. Thank you!
