Bay Area BYCers!

Erin,
I too wish you lived closer. I have both chickens & fertile eggs I would gladly donate for you. The chickens are Red Rivers which are a New Hampshire/Delaware cross done my Denny Thomas out of Paso Robles. They are crossed for meat but both breeds are good egg layers too & the birds are well started & outside on their own. The fertile eggs are Black Australorps, Blue Andalusian, Delawares or Light Sussex whoever was laying, all purebred.
Maybe Jeremy can help. I don't think he has any fertile eggs anymore since the city made him get rid of his roosters but maybe he has chicks or knows someone near by that does since he lives in Oakland too.
Good luck
Karen in Turlock

I LOVE to go fast! I had a BMW Z3 and people were always telling my husband that they saw me driving through town way too fast! My husband would scold me like I was a kid! I just told him I couldn't stop making it go fast!

The problem was, it didn't feel like I was going fast! I sure miss that car....I was stopped on the off ramp, it was backed up but the girl coming off the freeway didn't see the traffic stopped, hit me, I hit my husband in front of me and totaled my Z3, did major damage to my husbands Union Pacific company truck....and my back and shoulder! My husband was glad to see that car go, said I worried him in it......however, he had it up to 130 himself! Your cars are beautiful! Glad to see the helmet!

Cheryl, I just read this....she was beautiful. From the timeline I saw on your post, she was gone in under 4 hours! Poor baby, I sure hope you find out what took her like that. I'm so sorry.

Erin, I'm about 3 hours from you but my husband works for Union Pacific RR and they're doing a bridge in your area. I have some EE eggs I could send with him Monday if you could meet him somewhere to pick them up, if no one closer can get you some.

This is the fastest I have gone in the black car.

That is my old helmet, they require a helmet and fire suit with the speeds I run. I have to replace the helmet every five years, so that one is gone, the one I have now has much more subdued flames...lol
Z3's are nice cars.

That puts your back in the seat! I do miss my Z3, I drive a GMC pickup now. It has all the bells and whistles but no triptronics!

Walt, you are a crazy man.

I barely do the speed limit most of the time.

Cheryl, sorry to hear about the loss of your Orp. Have you heard from UC Davis yet about how she died?

LilyBee, I unfortunately do not have hatching eggs right now, at least not here at my place in Oakland. My Orpington rooster is currently vacationing in Santa Cruz with a good friend while we try to change the rooster keeping ordinance here in the city. I would check with Paul Pleece though in Concord, he has some beautiful birds.

Karen, I want to see pictures of your new babies!

So, what location was decided on for brunch this Tuesday? It turns out I might be able to make it after all.

Too bad I don't have a picture of me taking that picture...hahaha.....I guess I'm having a hard time growing up. Some like to call it a "mid life" crises, but I'm way past midlife and I started doing this when I was 16. I am competitive as heck and with motorsports there is no judge...just extremely accurate timing devices that have more zero's than you need. I won a race by 1/10000th of a second once.

I saw the entries for the show and they will have 200 birds. Not a lot, but good diversity of breeds. There will be quite a few turkeys. Maybe 15 waterfowl. Out of the 200 entered, 150 will be large fowl chickens. 150 LF is actually pretty good for a show this early. This is too early for most of us to show chickens. The event in general should be awesome!
