Bay Area BYCers!

They are EEs. Although there have been a lot of arguments about this on the ameraucana thread over the last year. You could also call most of them "non-standard ameraucanas".

I just call them EEs since they won't meet any variety standards for ameraucanas (except for a few blacks which I've tagged but aren't in this pic because they weren't dry yet).
These are my wheaten ameraucana hens X with my black ameraucana roo. A few that have hatched out are from my black ameraucana hens and my EE hens as well (with the same black am roo) but most of them are from the wheatens X the black am. I am interested only in egg color from this batch and I had a large order for EEs so I figured what the heck, these EEs will lay a really nice colored egg!

Thanks!

dldolan; I didn't know it worked on parasites; I haven't looked into that aspect. I thought parasites were too small. But I've heard it's great for worms, in all animals. I know it doesn't work for bacteria and viruses, but wouldn't that be nice?! But I haven't seen anything since I started using it. But like I said earlier, I can't wait to use it on my produce; I can't tell you how much lettuce and cabbage I lost last year to earwigs, aphids, and inchworms (oh my!). Here in the valley we have more than our fair share of cockroaches, too. I've been told that ants and cockroaches don't stand a chance with it. And it's safe for kids and pets...can't go wrong!

No I only use invermectin on the older flock

On the month olds I'm actually going to use wazine this week. I've been told NOT to worm younger ones.

Does anyone else have an opinion about that?

Cheryl I think you can use Wazine at 4 - 6 weeks. It's on the bottle. I usually wait till 12, but I really like natural wormers and although I have Wazine I've only used it a couple of times.

Wolftracks, what sort of natural wormers do you use? I have yet to worm my 9 month olds, and if I do actually have to worm them eventually, I'd like to stay away from drugs if possible.

Highly recommend the Golden sex links, I have only one wish half my flock where sex links, she's a real chicken's chicken, you'll never question getting eggs from those girls, when little she was named Queen of Sheba and has lived up to it! Head of my flock and smallest but knows everything that's going on, first into everything, kicks and scratches like a excavator. Can't go wrong on those birds. Good luck-

Hello from Napa, I hear we are Bay Area now!

Here is a photo of my 10 new BLRW chicks. Sorry that the red heat lamp makes it look like they live in a brothel.....they are actually very wholesome and cute in their brooder! My hubby is taking care of them while I am out of town and he reports that he "wiped their bums" (a chore I am sure he loves) and they are all doing well.

I'm baa-aack!!! I just got back from my little trip a couple days ago and spent today's naptime catching up on all you have been up to in the last week or so. Getting ready to build my science fair style incubator this week with the kiddos and then hoping to get some fertile eggs donated to me for the project. Seeing all the talk of your chicks has made me really want to be able to see my pre-schoolers interact with some little fluffy butts!

Jeremy... is the offer still open to donate some of your breakfast EE eggs to me for my hatch? I could come your way on a weekend (preferably Sunday) to pick them up after you've collected some for me
