Thank you so much, for your kind words, I was feeling a bit like a failure this morning. Nothing a really good cry and a stall mucking didn't help. I just wished there was something could have noticed sooner or prevented. There is one more smaller one and Im watching her close, she hangs back like you said and mostly right under the lamp where its warmest. I took them down 3 degrees this afternoon and she got mad for a bit (a good sign I hope)....but her crop was partially full this morning so I know she is eating. I gave polyvisol in their waterer and gave her a drop just to be on the safe side, I think she sleeps more than the others.
I hear what your saying about replacing her and I know sooner is better than later. I may have to put some chicken math at work so she wont be alone for the long car ride home....
We definitely went into this with the thought that they were livestock, but they certainly have much more personality than our cattle...now they are much more than that. They are pets with a purpose. Aside from eggs and meat, they provide me with some much needed sanity and entertainment after a long hair pulling day at work.
