Sandy, It was fun to spend more time with you on Saturday! I am so looking forward to Stockton!!! I've already asked for both days off although I'm assuming that most of the action will be on Saturday 1/28 so that's when we will meet up. Hors dourve/wine tasting sounds great to me!

That reminds me, I forgot to say thank you to Dawn for bringing that wonderful wine! THANK YOU, Dawn!

Sounds like fun to me too.

Debi, Makayla bugs me about Olivia all the time. They met last year at the Stockton show and Olivia kept her busy for me. The way her and Monet were getting along, I figured they had seen eachother before. I spent more time talking to the girls. LOL They were fun.

Oh and I met Collin?? too. Nice young man. My 15 year old doesn't go to things since he's usually to shy, but it was fun for me to see another boy with a ponytail. LOL Dakotah's I think will be history soon though.

I love long hair, but he's about ready to donate it and start again.

I wasn't hungry, but everything looked so good that eating was all I got done. Or many I was hungry and just the ordeal of trying to get there made me feel like I wasn't. LOL

I think it's finally time I find a way to take my Sportsman to the feedstore and have the guy see whats wrong with it. Did great before Bill died, but every since (like everything else here) it just keeps messing up. No one is laying, so I guess it's a good time to get it ready for when they are. I could put lights out, but everyone is moulting. Well, not the youngsters and Ziggy and the ladies are done. Funny, they don't look any different to me than beofre they started. They've always been so pretty and once I had saddles on them they were perfect.

I spent all day yesterday out digging up and smoothing out a section of my backyard. Mind you, Bill had been bragging about how I'd have it landscaped a month after we moved in. Well that was the worse time of my life. Nothing at all got done and since I need to get my two peach bin coops up and I've had to tear apart 2 coops, it's time to get it done. Plus the rain is starting up and I want warm spaces for some of the birds that have been making themselves at home on my back porch. LOL I have 3 cockerels that think their spot is on the top and middle of a large run. I can't reach them when I go out to put them away. I decided yesterday that There is going to be a space just for the boys, minus the Game roo of course. A big place for all the LF girls and then the smaller places for the bantams. I only have pairs or trios of them and I figure they should be housed together for the warmth.

Most of what I have out there is open air and they get covered with tarps when needed. I had my 3 new babies off on their own yesterday, since it was nice outside and they would freak out when I went in the garage. I came in and did somethings after dark and then a while later I remembered they were outside. They seemed fine, but I just couldn't leave them out. I wasn't sure what they were used to. Granted Lowrider is much smaller than them and hangs with the big birds, but has been out there since the middle of summer. Anyway I have a problem with wiring in my garage. Had to move a brooder onto the covered back porch and I was going to put these guys into a big crate I have out there, but the little AM looked at me, like "You're kidding right?" Soooo. They're still in my kitchen this morning. I'll take them back outside after I post. BTW the heat isn't on in my house, so it's not like they have a big difference in temperature, but I wanted to be able to see them. I didn't want them to get cold. I know they need to get used to it, but oh well. The kitchen floor sweeps and mops geat after shavings are tossed out.

OK time to get Kayla ready for school and get more work done out back, so Karen can get my peach bins out of her way. I tell ya, I don't know what I'd do without that woman. She is truely a wonderful and kind person. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Walt, you have to point out the good Sumatra breeders to me, I need to pick up a few more pullets/hens for my Platinum cockerel.

If you go to Stockton, look me up and I will set you up with the Sumatra breeders. You already know Bridget, but there are others that will show there.

Walt

Thank you very much Walt.

OK I know I said I was gone.

Cheryl congrats on all the developing eggs. AND Thank you for mentioning the Wazine, today is day 10 and I haven't looked at my calender in days. Rarely do.

Walt I need better foot coloring on my Sumatras. Don't even know what quality they are, but they were a breed I had always wanted after owning 2 hens long ago. Would be nice to meet some Sumatra people. hint

main reason I'm back in, is I was wondering how old my new birds are. I'll check in later and see if I get an answer, before I need to pm Chooklet. Wanted to see how she's feeling too.

Chooklet is trying to do less drugs, so you know how that goes, feels worse but then in the end it's better....Larry had to go and put one of the mille fleurs I gave her down. It got attacked a day ago. Larry is such a great guy about doing all that. He put Ginger down on thursday as you guys know, I couldn't even bare to be there but he knew it had to be done. I sure do miss those gorgeous feathers in my yard - I'll probably be talking to chooklet today as I have to find an oven to cook quiche. That quiche at the party was sublime...dreaming of more ever since I ate TWO pieces of it... YUM

Debi, I just candled everything I have in the bators and counted the chicks. I will have a really great selection within the next 2-3 weeks. Exactly 100 eggs developing nicely in the bators and 32 chicks hatched. SO PM me and I'll get you info or if you want to wait till summer, I'll give you one jubilee orpington in your mix of 3 - either way works

You have the coolest incubator! What a nice set up! We were imprssed with your nursery room.

Daphne, thank you for bringing the awesome BYC cookbook! I already have the first recipie picked out that I'll be making! Katy's lighter than air pan rolls. Everyone who has tried them here on the forum LOVES them and the pictures look delicious. What's better on a chilly fall day than some homemade bread? YUM!

I'm going to talk with Carlos more about switching to King feed, he seems really interested so I'll make sure to let you know when and if we may need help in the future.

I can't wait for 2012 meet ups! Stockton is a must, as is the Heirloom Expo. I feel like we should plan next year's Chickenstock a little bit earlier, maybe towards the end of summer. I'm hoping for better weather then and of course a bigger turn out next time. Thank you to all of you who did come though! I had a great time!

We switched to King feed last month. I love it! We are lucky because the feed store 1/2 mile way sells the Pro-Am Show and Grow for $15.50 for 50 lb bag.

I may have to drive your way for food! Modesto is actually closer to us here in Antioch than Santa Cruz is. Of course, DH would rather have us come down his way!

Thanks so much, I do love those incubators, set um and forget um. Spent yesterday setting up and cleaning the outside brooder. It's in my middle pen so this am I'll get the heat lamps in there and get it toasty before the babies go in!
