Bay Area BYCers!

The new set up looks fantastic!

I wish I had the carpentry skills to do something like that.

I might be divulging into the small world of bantam chickens soon... I never imagined myself as someone would would own banties but I've found a breed that I love in a color that I have been searching for for quite some time. I should know tomorrow whether or not we'll be adding tiny chickens to our homestead.

Wonderful job! It's work like this that make me miss my husband and all the work he did on the coops at the last house. Think your guy is a keeper! LOL

OK since I've been posting them other places I wanted to put a pic up of 2 of my boys.

Little Jovi - OE in front and Sterling - Not the Lav AM he should have been in the back.

Jovi is a big boy, but then his momma is one of my Davis FBCMs. He's a monster!

How exciting for you Sarah. I find that a new excitement comes with each new project.........Now,if I just had a maintenance man to keep up with all the mess that comes with building for & taking care of all these critters.....LOL

Beautiful bird!

Thank you. I just love her. She's starting to get a little standoffish like a lot of the others. I've started picking her up more like I used too. She's a sweet bird. I'm not sure about my other pullet. I think I see hackle and saddle feathers coming in. Figures. My for sure cockerel I think is Shafer??? Karen would know.

Here's a pic of my blue girl. She's from a BBS breeding from rockinpaints

Yes Kim your Lavender Am cockerel is from Harry Shaffer.

What a nice set up you have going. Trevor must be like my husband, very handy. It is so nice to have help. I couldn't do it without my husband & son. Maybe someday I will cut back to what I can handle myself........LOL
I put a new ad on Craigslist to sell some birds & have a guy coming this morning. He actually wants roosters...................Boy do I have roosters.....LOL

Okay Jeremy........out with it..................what are you looking at? I am not into Bantams myself either ....you know how I like BIG, but I do have those John Blehm lavender Bantam Ameraucanas. I will be selling them though in my reorganizing & cutbacks. I actually have some empty grow out pens & only 1 set of eggs left in the incubator. Everyone is growing up fast.

Ok karen that is sad, I think I better ship over to you the chicks I have in my brooder and you can be their auntie. Then you can raise the 26 eggs that are going into lockdown today.

I don't you to be bored

Sarah, Wow fabulous work on those cages. Indeed Karen new projects are so exciting! Seems all I want to do is spend time at the ranch lately..... Teaching a 4H group there today @ 11am if anyone wants to pop in, I should be there most of the day

I do so love raising the chicks & hatching is the best. I have room now for eggs, chicks & growing out birds but am totally out of room for grown birds. I get cracks made about the Winchester mystery coops.....LOL
The custom quail cages I had made are ready to be picked up today & I don't know if I want to give up the convenience of having the quail in the brooders that are all but empty....We'll see.....LOL. Everyday is a new adventure. I am going to go out now & try to rake some of the pounds of feathers in the runs. Everyone was in a molt & there are feather everywhere.

Before I was into chickens "big time" I was a 4H leader for 11 years while my kids were growing up in 4H. Very rewarding & I have considered doing it again, but where would I get the time????? LOL It was a full time jobs for me back then with 3 projects & 72 kids I had meetings every week & monthy community meetings & county level meetings too. Getting older has certainly slowed this ol' gal down.....LOL
