Sandy,

I lost my mom a few years ago and I know how rough that first Christmas is!

I'm glad that we both made it through December and that it is now January!

I'm so looking forward to the Stockton show and that will get me through the next few weeks! You are going to it, aren't you???

I am out of chicken food and trying to decide whether to buy some more Modesto Milling or to go with King's. My hens love the Calexico mix! To those of you who use King's, where do you buy it in the Bay area? I see on their website that the feedstore in Livermore carries it. I can't remember what the sales rep said at the chickenstock.

Hey, Jeremy:

I wanted to ask about the temperament of your cuckoo marans roo. I have one, too, 22 weeks of age. He has become aggressive in the past couple of weeks as he has matured, and I wonder if that's a breed characteristic or just his individual personality? I'm looking to rehome him as he was supposed to be a female in the first place, and I'm just not up for getting attacked. Thanks!

Well when we had Francois he wasn't ever really too mean. He never by any definition was a friendly rooster, but he wasn't aggressive. He kept his distance and I kept mine.

When we bought our house 2 years ago I culled all of the hatchery stock birds from my flock and started over, Franky was one of the birds that we sold.

Thank you for the info, Jeremy!

I may call the Livermore feedstore, first. It is a little closer with no bridge fee. I wish that the feedstores in Santa Cruz carried it. My DH has been picking up the Modesto Milling feed for me and bringing it home with him on the weekends.

Thanks Debbi! And of course I'm planning on going to the show!! Been looking forward to it and can't wait to see everyone. What day(s) are you planning on attending? I'll probably be on my own so if you don't mind a tag along I think it would be fun to meet up!

Also, I think the rep said that Alamo feed also sold the King line of feed. In case Livermore doesn't have exactly what you need. Sometimes they are low on stock ......I've never been into Alamo feed, just pass it on the way to the craft store.....

I really need to cut back on my hobbies!!!

Hi All,
Is anyone going, and which day?
frow.gif

I was thinking of Saturday, Jan 28, but it is also the weekend just after Chinese New Year's, so I'm iffy about Saturday. Maybe Sunday, but is most of the show over by the end of Saturday? (Last year I couldn't go on Saturday b/c I had my high school reunion on that same day in San Francisco.)
Thanks!
