Bay Area BYCers!

I'll be sure to post pictures as the babies grow. It's very exciting, I've never had some of these colors in the brooder before, it's so much fun waiting for each chick to hatch and dry off so that I can guess what color they are.

Love your sprouting system Cheryl!

Jeremy I'm surprised you didn't look for a place to keep him so you could use him if need be.

I've gotten 2 Silvet Phoenix eggs 2 days in a row. There's usually only one at a time and a couple of days apart. Guess my girls are feeling at home finally. Kept wait to hatch some of these out!

Kim, I thought about that, but I honestly didn't know anyone who could take him.

That and I actually have what I need from him, offspring that are the colors needed to move forward with the project. He's got a few faults that I would like to see bred out of my flock, so culling (rehoming) Poe and outcrossing to a more typey line is my next plan.

Holy cow you went all out! LOL.

I'll send good hatching vibes your way, I want to see pictures of those wee ones when they're out of the eggs!

I've got Sumatras in lockdown right now, from my Platinum/Dun pen and there are 2 Khaki Sumatra eggs in there too.

You are right to laugh! And I feared some repercussion was in the works...until hubby found we now have a "farm" exemption, thanks in part to the chickens!

Hysterical. Now, the tune has changed to, "save the receipts for the chicken materials, honey!" Next coop in the works....! Work started...

Wait until you hear my downward trending, "it's OK because", reverse chicken math! I have 58 eggs set. 10 are for orders for my own birds' chicks. 50% hatch rate for shipped eggs leaves me with 24. 50% boys =12. A friend wants extra Orps/Mottled cochins, so basically I am down to four birds, and that is just to restock my laying flock. GET it?

By the way, I have a nice bridge to sell you... CHEEEEEEP!
