Is the dose on the bottle correct orrrr ??? I don’t want to accidentally overdose my birds but don’t want to underdose either. I’ve seen varying things. Also if it is correct, it would be 0.3 on the syringe right? For 6-7 lb hen? Don’t worry, I will measure them to get an exact weight beforehand but that’s about their weight.

Yes, that appears to be the correct dosage. 10% enrofloxacin or baytril is 0.05 ml per pound given orally twice a day for 5 days. That would be 0.3 ml for 6 pound bird or 0.35 for a 7 pound bird. Egg withdrawal time is 5-10 days after stopping the drug, depending on which study you believe.

The Baytril 10% dose is 0.05ml per pound, orally, given twice a day for no longer than five days, or a yeast/fungal infection may occur.

There is an egg withdrawal when using Baytril. Even though it is used off-label frequently, Baytril is banned for poultry use by the FDA due to drug resistance concerns.

Thank you! Sorry for the really stupid question but what would that be on the syringe?

She’s around 6 pounds but I am planning on weighing her for an accurate dosage.

And the egg part isn’t a concern for me because she is 5 years old and not laying anyway and she’s one of my favorite birds so mostly a pet anyway. ❤
ETA: just saw Egg’s response.

Thank you!! Very helpful!! She’s not laying anyways so the egg thing isn’t a concern ❤️

Correct, specifically a 1ml syringe, which is easier to administer due to the slimmer shape. That should have come with the bottle. Gently pull down on her wattles, and stick the syringe into the right side of her mouth.

I just want her to be okay mostly. I don’t think I would do the antibiotics on one of my young, actively laying, pullets though tbh. but my old girls I only have 3 original girls left and they’re some of my favorites. ❤️
