Baytril in chickens?

Try calling these labs and ask them how much it would be.

Well good news! Mc-Gurgles is gurgle free!

How long after the gurgles stop can I put her back in the flock?

That's great! I'd keep her separate and follow up the antibiotic treatment with probios, then put her back. Baytril kills good bacteria, so give her a few days past the Baytril treatment.

Okay, so Miss Cluckles' rattling has REALLY gone away. I think the Baytril worked. Which means it's Bacterial?

So how should I respond to this? It's not MS/MG (I think) so it's just... caused byyy?

It could have been both viral AND bacterial. Many of the respiratory diseases chickens get can cause secondary bacterial infections and pneumonia. So an antibiotic will clear that up but the bird will still be a carrier of whatever disease it had or has.

You can purchase Baytril 10% on-line without a prescription. And you are correct, the dose for the 10% is .05 ml.

I agree with Kathy that getting some testing done would be well worth it. Knowing exactly what you are dealing with will help a lot.

I believe I will. They are closed Sundays (I think, anyways) so I'll call tomorrow.

I've got all the chickens I need, so I wont be bringing anymore in, and the only things I thought about selling were EE's, but my EE chicks are only a month old so it'll be a WHILE before I get any eggs from them. Let alone any hatching eggs.

Today she got a bath with some soothing soap to clean her feathers out and some egg yolk for a treat. She also got some vitamins. She's doing pretty well, but I think she's a little underweight. She's SUPPOSED to be around 20 weeks old, so 2.9 pounds seems a little light. She's a Golden Comet, and they are supposed to be 5 pounds at an adult age. Which I THINK she should be at.

Any ideas for putting weight on her? I've been tossing her any bugs/worms I see (which is a lot) should I give her some corn meal or something to help her fatten up?
