I think it is a hen. I have a young Beltsville and he was hatched in June and he has been gobbling for while.

Here y'all go finally! All that time for me to take a photo of this silly thing, lol ( I am sorry about that btw!) -- I took it right before getting online tonight so it doesn't get too much fresher than that!
Well, what do you guys think now?

Hatched june...displays to female visittors in the yard...no gobbles yet?!...has likely 3 other females to show off too (smaller less snood length)...does a pfft pffft noise and a whistle kinda call. They kinda bark at visittors too...
First time turkey owner and i think they ae pretty cool...but i do have to pick up all things shiny....and my dh hates it when they run off with his tools...can bother him alot!...I think it's soooo funny...they seem so playful!
This is last months photo and i hope you don't mind me posting him or her...he's my favourite....loves me and has good manners with everyone in the family.

taras.farm, I think yours is a hen. Notice the smaller snood, small caruncles, the head looks a bit smaller and more 'feminine', there appears to be feathering up the back of the neck to the head. That would be my guess...

I am thinking a boy as well -- but I will never be satisfied until he gobbles... or she lays an egg!
The displays are only short....but I did see blue in the face and the snood comes down with the displays quite a bit. Nothing like the ones that go all out at my friend's place. Now those are real toms, lol!
I'll try to keep my camera close in case I can catch such a display moment, lol. I normally love taking lots of photos, but the dang cold (bronchitis) and family issues have kept me indoors for the most part.


taras.farm --- Heck no I don't mind! And the pic is super cute...those big eyes made me smile.

I love seeing photos of everyone's birds! About 80 percent of the key words I use during hours of thread reading on here have the word "pics!" in it.

I can't wait to get a new camera in the close future -- some people have all baby photos on their sd cards....mine are all chickens and such, ha!


I will update with display or face color pics when the chance hits!

FINALLY!!
Three days ago... I heard it. "GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!!"
I went outside around 3 AM to check on everyone and saw him... in all his glory. A ton of blue on his now overly wrinkled face and a looong snood! lol
I will snap a photo. He struts like a nut now so it will be easy!
