BBS Orps - how do you know which ones to cull?

My large fowl bbs orps are grown to the point that I need to cull some roos from the flock...what are some of the things I should look for in the keepers?

I have one of each color (blue, black and splash)... if you could only keep two, which ones would you keep?

With a blue, is it better to keep a lighter blue or a darker one?

And legs...I think shorter legs are better, right?

Do I need to get some pics for you to help me?

Who is the nicest looking? Who has the better comb? Those are things that need to be looked for. I also would go with temperament as well, as you don't want to be keeping a nasty, mean roo.

A broad head. 5 to 6 points on comb. Thick legs. Dark eyes . I look for depth in body from top to bottom. I particular about short back. I know the American Standards allow for longer back. I like a rump to look fluffy and mounded like a cochin if possible.

Pictures please. If you keep one that is too long in the leg. Make sure to breed it with your best hen with stumpy legs. Also make sure the ones you keep do not have a split tail.

I have this question too. Here are pictures of my buff roo. I think he is wonderful but would love an experienced opinion. His name is Colonel Sanders and he has a wonderful temperment. You can pick him up and he eats out of my hand.

I am very interested in this thread also. Mine are still young-about 4 1/2 months, but I am curious. Not trying to hijack, but I have a blue hen with green eyes instead of black. If I breed her to a roo with black eyes, what will be the outcome?

You can get the eye color right by breeding to the dark eyes. If she is very good other ways I would keep her for breeding.
The color on the the above buff Orp is very good.
