A few strange things are happening recently.

  • The Amrock pullet who laid creamy eggs stopped laying or is hiding her eggs. The other Amrock started to lay in the tiny coop/large nestbox in the second run. I thought they both stopped laying / where hiding their eggs but then I found 3 brown eggs in this small cage yesterday.

  • This evening Ini mini and one of the Amrock decided they don’t want to sleep in the playhouse anymore. Ini mini has gone back to the extension. One Amrock sleeps alone in the playhouse and the other Amrock sleeps in the small coop. This is the coop where the nestboxes are and Janice slept alone since the Amrocks moved out to the playhouse.

Yesterday when I made the final inspection, I found the auto-pop-door of the playhouse wide open.

The info panel said ‘blocked’. And I found some dirt in the middle of the bottom rail.
After cleaning the rail, it works again. I wondered if the cold air (too much ventilation) was a reason to switch places for Ini mini and Gin.

This evening Ini mini and the Amrocks prefer to sleep in the playhouse again. 😁

I kept to chickens locked up for almost 2 days, to see if the Amrock who lays the creamy eggs was laying outside. But she obviously stopped laying. (I still don’t know if thats Gin or Toni).

😢 4-5 eggs a week is not much to go by.
Hope to get more eggs soon bc today I saw both Katrientje and Black are getting ready to lay again. They both have beautiful red combs.

Today it was very obvious that Ini mini and Black are still the leaders of the pack. They eat the yummie feed first , the others have to wait.

Tried to take a photo to register this, but Black moved towards me when I opened the door to take a photo.

Black’s comb is red and big again. And she squatted for me today. Her first egg since she got broody in June is on his way!

If I didn’t know any better I would say she is just a few years old. But 🤞🤞she is going for the 10 next Mai.

Ini mini didn’t look fit at all today. She has been looking less active on and off lately and her tail feathers didn’t grow back nicely after her last moult. So altogether I start to worry if she is sick or would she just be getting really old?
