BDutch's bantam flock & natural breeding projects #5 🪺 🪺 and #6

Those plants look unnatural. I wonder at the conditions that resulted in selecting that as a species survival mechanism.

WELCOME BACK!
Thanks.
Do you refer to the hollyhock?
They were near the parking for a restaurant with an astonishing view. The hollyhock looks strange bc it almost finished blooming.
Someone probably planted some seeds. I never saw them in nature.

I found the missing eggs today.
They were in the coop underneath the poop tray.

Why do we make nest-boxes for our chickens if they don’t need them. 😜

My chickens enjoy a siesta under the contorted hazel. The weather is great today and I hear purring sounds every now and then. 💚

20°C, almost no clouds, barely any wind.
A very quiet and peaceful Sunday afternoon, typing this.

The diy carwash behind our neighbours garden, spoiled it a bit. I try to think it’s an intermitting waterfall. 💦

A day of many treats and surprises.

1
This morning I noticed a corner of the bread was moldy. The rest was still okay, and the chickens were very happy with it.

2
I had to leave early today and didn’t even finish half of my musli with yogurt breakfast. When I got home this afternoon the girls were very pleased with it.
Gin & Tonic were the first to spot it. Scrunch, yummy, yummy.

A few chickens spotted a special dinner was served and stepped in. All stealing a bite or 2. But not long after Black & Pearl took over, showed who are in charge to get the best food. Then Ini mini arrived, she was allowed to take part too.
In the meanwhile Janice was absent, probably laying an egg in the coop.

This same morning I dropped the mixed grain container on the mat by the door. Most of the grains went back in the container. But I had to leave the rest on the mat till my return.
So after the yoghurt treat there was another. The chickens must have thought treat time was over and they al vanished. I took the mat and scattered the grains in the terrace. Janice came out and was looking for her roommates, then noticed the treats scattered on the terrace. She was flabbergasted. A lot of treats and no competition !
She was talking out loud and enjoying her treats with incredible joy.

At the end of the sun shining day I went outside with the feed containers to lure them with treats/feed and lock the chickens up. Now I was suprised. All 8 chickens were waiting on the terrace for me. So weird. They never did this before.
