So therre's no other way to tell, so that you can pull it and blow it out if it got rattle too much during shipment?

Nope, no way... unless you have one of those thingy's that detect heartbeats...... The shells are very very thick, I use to carve them. Emu eggs have 3 color layers Inside white thin layer, a light teal layer and then the colored, speckled outside layer. If they didn't hatch, I would turn it upside down and with a dremel tool etc. cut off a small section of the bottom, dump it out and use the shell.
