Bedding for turkeys

Hello,

Our 1-year old turkey had to have bumblefoot surgery on both feet. The vet recommended astroturf or other soft surface, but she eats everything. Right now I have her on loose topsoil covered with a dense weave dropcloth. I discovered that the topsoil has small sticks in it, which may well have been the cause of her foot injuries to begin with...

But once she heals, what is recommended? Pea gravel? Plain dirt (without the sticks)? Sand?

We use sand, gravel, dirt, grass. I've never had any bumblefoot on any of my poultry. Check your roosts for splinters. Hopefully she gets better quickly.
