Beefy Needs Your Help! UPDATE on Florence and her mystery egg

Awwwww how cute.

But I'm still mad at you - making us wait 8 hours. Shame on you. Do you know how many times I came in from working outside just to check this thread???

Well....maybe you did save me from heat stroke so I'll just let it go.

Again, just too cute.

Is the mystery egg still under her? If it is a bird egg it could take longer than 21 days.

yes all three of those are still under her but she spent a lot of time off the nest until right before dark. i think the egg being so small the pigment was more concentrated is the best theory. although i saw in the encylopedia an identical looking egg listed as a yellow billed cuckoo but if it was that it should have hatched long by now. also, everything else i find says they lay greenish eggs so i dont know who to believe.anyway, the suspense is over.


now Pearl is due tomorrow or the next day, not sure which. she is sitting on 9 eggs but she exploded off of the nest today for a long dust bath. i thought something was attacking and killing her--shes so dramatic. i checked out her eggs and it appears (smells too) like two of the 9 are cracked and not any good.

Congrats to Florence being a mommy. Thankfully she didn't hatch some sort of crazy animal out of that odd ball egg.

i know! i was really afraid it was going to be a silkie too. or a hostile brown thrasher or something.

still just the two today. no growling or anything from Pearl yet.

So i cracked open the mystery egg and guess what i found inside!!





just some eggwhite. as expected. same goes for the wind egg. and the remaining egg was rotten.

looks like flo just laid a brown marble fart egg afterall.

BTW beefy- I have three silkie chicks now and they are growing on me all the time. I have chellester and sclanimals to thank for that abomination.
