Glad you decided to give the site another try!

Yes, it can be really offputting when there's a lot of trash talk going on and you can't find the help you need. I understand your frustration. I haven't been on the site as long as you have, but whenever I see something I don't care for (which is rare-maybe once or twice), I still try to be respectful in my response or I just leave it alone and try another thread. Sorry you had those problems.

I think for the most part, people I've come across are generally helpful and cordial, even with differing opinions. To me, I think there's beauty in seeing a bunch of different viewpoints, then taking what makes sense to me and leaving the rest behind.

Welcoming new (and returning) members makes me happy, give it a try!

Oh, and definitely take a look at the Chicken Shaming thread @EggWalrus mentioned, it's one of my favorites.

Glad you re-joined the flock! We are sure you'll find things have changed, as far as I've seen, people don't shame others from not treating a chicken like a human. Come join us back on the roost! We've been saving your spot!

Welcome back to Backyard Chickens!We are glad you joined the flock! BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry! There is always space for more members on the BYC roost! Things might of changed on BYC since 9 years ago. If members give you a hard time on issues and are being somewhat criticizing towards you for no particular reason then just go ahead and report them. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!

Something else I've noticed... I think there have been some major changes in the last 6 months or so, a platform change, a trophy system, badges and such. And tons of new members that are really into the social aspect, and of course all the members who are here for the sincere desire to help others learn to improve the welfare of poultry and any other animals and also get the most out of raising livestock -or pets (I see it both ways). That's why I'm here, too! I certainly don't know everything, but I hope I can at least offer support or send someone in the right direction if they need help.
