Belgian Watermaal Bantams - a cousin fo d'Anvers/d'Uccles!(pic heavy)

Update: have F1's running around the hatcher. Looks like millies and buff columbian so far. The quail crosses haven't started zipping yet.
Update: Hatched 12 of the Pyncheon X Buff Columbian(split to mottled) most are colored millies. Hatched 8 of the Pyncheon X quail cross. Most of those look quail with a couple buff columbian looking ones. Pictures in a few days.

Aww, I've always loved the little crested ones. I may have one or two hatch out myself here in about a week. I have some pics to start the year off of three cockerels that were sired by a silkie mix male I got out of Ohio. They look typey, just need to get rid of that dark skin on them. Then I have a couple of others and one of my favorite Blue Quail hens....
This cockerel is out of the Ohio male and a Quail Watermaal hen - had good color, has acceptable type....also has blue skin

This is a Quail cockerel out of my own birds - none of mine have blue skin, but he is a bit big.

One of my favorites, a Blue Quail hen. She is the mother to my favorite Quail pullet of 2012 and is out of my line.

Quail pullet mothered by the Blue Quail pullet.

Blue Quail cockerel that is the son of the Blue Quail pullet when she was bred later on that year to the Ohio silkie mix male. He is alright, but blue skin again.

And this guy has his dad's color - mom was a different Quail Watermaal hen not pictured. Full brother to the first Quail cockerel. He has a really good comb and when he is not scared actually appears to have good type, so I am going to hold onto him as a back up male.

Really thinking that leg color must be sexlinked.....great starts! They look awesome!
All the pyncheons had kind of pinkish white legs except one pullet, hers are green like an easter egger. The quail crosses all have slatish legs but the millie crosses are all kind of pinkish yet. Now I have a pyncheon roo with a millie hen with 3 spikes on her comb. two pyncheon hens with a double spiked millie roo and two pyncheon hens with a mottled roo. I plan on hatching some of these and next year go back to d'Anvers and see what happens.
