Belly hard for two days, then suddenly goes soft. Please help!!

I'm glad she ate a grape but you're right, she has problems, and they are urgent. Please follow through on any of the previously noted suggestions that you can. And urgently.

I am at work and can't check in as much as I'd like but this is urgent, it really is. She needs you to find help locally TODAY - though of course keep posting here so more folks see your thread.

I will research 4H in a moment. I am a 17 year old girl, with no car, unable to drive due to a strict father, the strict father just left for Austin, and I have no nearby family. But I do have a best friend. I will call her. Ursula has been acting funny for three days. My friend just offered to take me to a pharmancy. I'll go buy a dropper.

She just stood up for a minute to shake out her feathers.... She only stands on the ball of her foot, and her toes are stiff... And she resists when I mess with her right foot. There is something on the bottom of her foot. The ankles are different sizes. The left is bigger and the right is smaller. It is black, with a clear smooth covering the dot in the center. I can't reach it. I've got a photo. Hang on.

I know this is hard. And that you want to help her. I feel really badly that you have these birds and apparently no support at home for getting them the help they need. I'm sure the pharmacy can just give you a dropper. They give them out all the time with various meds. If you wash it out really really well after use and make sure it dries thoroughly with no mold, you'll be able to reuse it in the future. Again, she may not be eggbound but the Tums won't hurt her in any case. I don't know if her foot is bothering her because she's been sitting so long or if it's indicative of a different problem at hand.

For those of you who come into this post late, here is a list of symptoms.

Pale face
Always sitting
Panting from time to time
Strange? poop
Leans to the left
Left ankle is thicker than the right
Right foot has something in it
When standing, her facial color returns
Not much interest in food today 6/7.
Dribbled some water for her today 6/7.
Ate 7 large grapes today 6/7
Exhaustion
Does nothing but sleep

The whole thing that started this was her belly was hard, and swollen. I saw her on the nest, but I got no egg from her, but her belly was soft again. Then she started acting like this.

Her foot looks like she has bumblefoot. You need to treat it there are threds here about it. You may need to give her an antibotic that you can get at the feed store. I have not had bumblefoot so I dint want to try to tell you how to treat it. Check out threads about it. Also I would give her some electrolyte/vitamin water you can get it at the feed store too. Doesnt cost much. If you can get Duramycin it doesnt cost much either. Keep trying to get her to eat and drink.

Okay Sheila, I had a strain of Bumblefoot hit my flock last summer. Almost every bird had it. I do know how to treat it. Quite well thankfully. I'll work on the electrolytes next. My feed store is closed.

based on your picture i definitely think she has bumblefoot
can u put another pic of her foot up
if it really is bumblefoot you would need antibiotics to treat it
