well, i've been having to get up 30 min earlier every morning to make my son a bento lunch. it's quite a pain since mornings are tough, with feeding all the chickens, guineas, baby chicks, horses, cows, dogs, cats and tending to the sick chickens with their meds then putting myself together to take my son to school then off to work. sigh....
but
i found out that he (my 6 y.o.) only gets 30 min for lunch. part of that is standing in line getting his lunch...which is CRAZY. he can't eat his dinner in less than 30 min let alone, how do they expect him to buy a hot lunch, eat and socialize with his friends!
he's small and skinny as it is. i don't need him missing out on lunch. so i've decided to make him bento's so he can sit down faster and eat.
last night, i asked him about the bento's i've been making him and he took a big breath and said to me, i love them so much mommy. that was so nice. he also asked me to make more designs on the rice.
i went to target last week and they had a bunch of stuff in their $1 bins which i've been using for his bento.
they had the silicon cupcake thingies, 5 in a pack for $1 in colors of blue, red, yellow and pink. i thought that was a GREAT buy. they also had paper punchers in shapes of an apple, star, pumpkin and a maple leaf. each one a $1. i've used them on the "nori" and they cut the seaweed fine. they also had paper cupcake liners with thanksgiving and halloween themes for a $1.
now if only ichibankan can get their website back up, i'll be set.
