Bento Box Fever!

I have a question... would regular dollar store cookie cutters work for sandwich or other food shapes? I can't really commit to buying sandwich molds online when a regular cookie cutter seems obvious. Am I missing something?

This is a snack bento for my youngest little boy. I love this box- its just the right size for him and its so cute!!! I was in a hurry packing this, but I was going for a fruit face with a petit four in the center...

There are the omnipresent "goldie crackers" and a couple of "organic" cheese puffs for fun. A Babybel, and some salami bites round it out.

I am loving reading this thread and I cant wait to see what you all create with your fun new stuff!!!!!!

chickiebaby: I have not tried tiffin, but it looks like I may just have to!!

asher: Hooray!!! It will be like christmas when your goodies arrive

ninjapoodles: Love the razorback!!! Did you freehand it or make some sort of stencil? I tried cutting out nori shapes for my brood, but their reaction was pretty much

I get my cutters from the dollar store or at the local crafting store. ANY cookie cutters will work wonderfully, although some thicker food will be hard to cut with plastic cutters. I have even raided my kid's Playdough stash for cute shapers

re: cutters ~ I bought a huge box of plastic cookie cutters when I started bento's the last time. Brand new sealed at a thrift shop for like $1. I was pleased as punch!

and a little bit of chocolate never hurts...

I can only eat a teeny tiny bit or I get sick. The petit four would be IT.

You make beautiful stuff, btw

I am DYING for some of those little animal-shaped boxes for Bella.

Cookie cutters would work just fine on sandwiches, and for that matter, onigiri as well.

I have some petit-four cutters that I bought for soapmaking. I like them because they're much "deeper" than regular cookie cutters, like 2 inches thick.
