A permanent solution is an electric fence. It will prevent neighbors dogs or other predators from killing the chickens .Meanwhile you can train your dog not to do the same. There were no bodies. Just missing chickens for bedtime.
That's why we can't allow them around our chickens unsupervised lolThe Monster teeth:
Luckily for you that your puppy is still a puppy. Train the puppy! And it seems like she may have just been “playing” with the chickens. It is still sad no matter how you look at it.I have been partially forgiven. (Sniff)
Guess who showed up at my door this morning? My beautiful, injured, SLO showed up at my door.
Plus, I think I know what happened.
About three months ago I bought a poodle puppy from a breeder. Yesterday while I was doing some outdoor chores I remember catching out of the side of my eye the puppy chasing one of the chickens. I think that is what happened as her injuries are at the tail and lower back just above the tail.
She hid under the porch all day/night and came out this morning.
I have bandaged her wounds. A fed her… she is eating well. I gave her a baby aspirin.
She appears to be doing well; she has eaten most of a large scrambled egg, but so far has not been interested in water. Regardless, I have learned a very very very very big lesson.
If it was me I would just put her out of her misery. I can't stand to see anything suffer. She's lost a considerable amount of flesh & blood & lost all the feathers off her back.Whats her belly and thighs look like?Picture of wounds. Again, slathered with neosporin and redressed.
Thank the Lord I broke my leg and had surgery (two months ago.). Still healing, but I have sterile dressings and gauze. She managed to escape from her hospital bed while I was doing errands, so she is still pretty feisty. Pooped a huge broody poop…
Any suggestions for care are welcome, including scolding.
That doesn't look like a wound caused by a pup sorry.Picture of wounds. Again, slathered with neosporin and redressed.
