My 10-11 year old black Astrolarp hen died today. She had been sick for several months. I posted about this earlier. But I never could determine what was wrong with her. Her crop was big and squishy even when she ate something. It was like the food was turning into liquid in her crop. She was on the hearth this afternoon breathing heavily. Went to check on her and she had vomited the contents of her crop.....all liquid and was dead. Though I knew she was going to die, I am heartbroken.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

if she lived to be 10-11 years old, you must've taken very good care of her!

I am very sorry. It's hard to lose one of our flock, even when it is expected.

I have a hen who is in a hard molt right now, not eating well and losing weight. I am afraid to open the coop in the morning and come home from work at the end of the day, for fear I will find her dead. I would be devastated. Best of luck to you.

Oh my gosh i am sorry

Thank you all for your kind words. It's been amazing to find this community that loves chickens as much as I do and understands my loss. Thank you again.
