we are redesigning our coop and need a good automatic door for our girls. wed love something that wont break the bank as we are on a very tight budget ($150 is our goal for a door but thats a bit flexible). We need something that doesn't need electricity as our coop is an acre away from any power but im just not sure which door to go with. Any advice would be great. thanks!

We're considering this:

I'm just here to get the answer too...the price differences on Amazon are shocking, but I don't want to waste $150 and find out I should have spent $250 to begin with!

Totally within the budget if I can justify the initial cost to my husband (rather than starting with the $150 one then needing to replace and spend more money). I was looking at the one that popped up in the link...$259, plus $17 for the external open button (that I could put up high on the outside of the coop), and $35 for the rain guard (or maybe just recess the whole thing?)....just over $300 is well worth the cost upfront rather than losing hens and having to replace the door!

I designed my own door for my coop... Mine also runs off a 12v lawn mower battery. You might consider diying one as well. 🤷🏼‍♂️
do you mind sharing how you did yours? I have looked up a few different ones to see how they were done. This is one project I am having my husband do for our coop when he builds it. :)
