Hi,

I want to start a small production of organic eggs and was wondering if I should choose any particular breed.
Do some breeds produce eggs that look and taste more organic?
For example, do some breeds produce darker, orange gems than others?
Or will this and other egg quality factors depend mostly on feed?

Thanks a lot.

Nutrition is the key, not breed.

Free ranging on good ground is needed to get honest, healthy "orange gems".

Organic just meets no chemicals have been used on the chickens, their housing, their feed, their run, their pasture, etc.,. Basically they have to be chemical and pesticide free...no hormones and no antibiotics. But, they can be vaccinated.

I probably got something wrong it that, but it should be fairly close to being correct.

Best wishes,
Ed
