I'm currently waiting on some Indian Runner duck eggs to arrive to stick underneath our broody hen and I plan on keeping 1 male to breed with our 2 females. We currently have 1 chocolate and 1 blue Runner. I bought the eggs from a NPIP certified breeder. I understand most of the ducklings that hatch will be mixed colors but the males that are a certain color, which should I keep??
I want to keep the best color that pairs good with both chocolate and blue.

Black goes well with both chocolate and blue :) Black bred to chocolate hens will produce all black offspring, the males of which will be split to chocolate. Black bred to blue produces blacks and blues.

From the pictures of the breeder's flock, you might have a chance at getting a black drake. But since he's going to be from a mixed flock and very possibly have mixed color genetics, then he will likely throw some surprises when mated with your girls.

Not too worried about thrown surprises, just wanted to keep the best coloration that goes with my females :)
Thanks
